Dear Debaters, Adjudicators and Debate Enthusiasts,

The Interdisciplinary Centre for Social Justice (ICSJ) at the National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS), Kochi is hosting its first edition of "The NUALS Parliamentary Debate Competition.” The Centre for Social Justice hopes to bring together young minds to debate contemporary issues of social relevance, particularly in the realm of Social Justice. The Centre aims to conduct a stimulating debate focusing primarily on the theme of social justice and officially invites all interested candidates to register for the first edition of the NUALS Parliamentary Debate Competition 2014. 

The NUALS Parliamentary Debate Competition is scheduled to be held from the 10th to 12th of October, 2014 in the NUALS campus.The debate, which is to follow the Asian Parliamentary Debate format, will comprise of teams consisting of three speakers and one adjudicator each. The adjudication core of the tournament comprises of top Indian debaters Achitha Jacob, Aparna Raturi and Ajay Kumar, who are among the most illustrious in the realm of debating. It is an open tournament and cross teams are welcome, as are independent adjudicators. However, there is a team cap of 30 teams, so do register ASAP! 

The prize money for the tournament is a whopping total of INR 40,000, which includes cash prizes for the best team, the runner up team, the best speaker, and the best adjudicator. Applications must be sent in on or before the 5th of October, 2014. The registration fee is INR 800 per team. Accommodation will be provided by the organizers on the payment of a separate fee. Don’t miss the opportunity to be a part of the first ever debating initiative which is focused solely on issues of social justice. Registration for the tournament is now open online.
